Beyond Capital: Using Gender-Inclusive Job Skills Training and Worker Cooperatives to Support Entrepreneurship

Averil Spencer is the Founder and CEO of Launch Girls, a nonprofit that aims to close the gender gap in economic opportunities through entrepreneurship programming for adolescent girls in Africa and Southeast Asia. She has a proven track record of building and scaling mission-driven organizations that have a profound impact on girl's and women's livelihoods. Prior to founding Launch Girls, Averil co-founded VOICE 4 Girls, a social enterprise focused on educating and empowering adolescent girls in India through extracurricular life skills programs. Most recently, she was a Manager in Deloitte Consulting’s Digital Customer group. Averil received a BA from Dartmouth, an MBA from MIT's Sloan School of Management and an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School.
