Mary Kate Cartmill is an Associate Manager II of Food Systems and Nutrition at Tanager. In her role, she works across Tanager’s East and West Africa portfolios providing management and technical support to projects focused on scaling youth employment and entrepreneurship programming in conflict-affects areas, transforming poultry value chains using integrated market-facilitation approaches, and providing technical assistance in gender and nutrition integration to agriculture institutions. Prior to joining Tanager, Mary Kate worked on research teams studying inclusive education in Afghanistan and Pakistan using a community-based, system dynamics approach and the intersection of sustainable aquatic food systems and maternal and child nutrition in Kenya. Mary Kate holds a B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Michigan and a Master of Public Health from Washington University in St. Louis.
