Cultivating Green Jobs: Innovative Models and Tools for Youth Green Jobs in Agriculture

Mathew Rupanga is a Team Leader with over 20 years of experience in climate-smart agriculture, rural development, livelihoods, and governance. He currently leads Uganda’s Climate Smart Jobs programme, funded by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, which aims at promoting climate smart agriculture technologies that support smallholder farmer adaptation to climate change. Notably, Mathew was involved in setting up the £120 million Challenge Fund for Youth Employment, funded by the Dutch government. During his tenure in India, he managed a skills development programme that provided skilling for employability to youth farmers to drive farmer producer organisations. Mathew’s impact also includes leading three market system development programs for FCDO, valued at about £104 million combined and benefiting over one million farmers. His passion lies in creating positive impact through climate-smart agriculture.
