Youth-led Green Innovation Labs: youth innovation that is local, inclusive and a force for climate action and social change.
Rubina is an activist, business leader, and climate mentor for climate-vulnerable youth. She started her journey as a leader for social change with her participation in a Child Friendly Local Government project in 2014 in Satkhira. When she became older, she participated in multiple projects to support positive youth development initiatives. In 2022, Rubina won first prize in a Youth-led Green Innovation Lab. Currently, Rubina continues to learn how to become a better business leader by participating in the Young Women Economic Empowerment project which supports women entrepreneurs. Rubina’s business model is environmentally sustainable and a force for social change. She produces biodegradable sanitary napkins and delivers them at low cost to young women in remote areas. She and her business partners also help to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene management and provide information through briefings and leaflets. Rubina was nominated national youth counselor for Satkhira’s Department of Youth. In 2024, Rubina was selected as a member of the World Bank’s S4YE Youth Advisory Group.
